Ms. Long said the parcel contains a pond believed to be about 50 years old that the city and developer plan to breach and convert into roughly 0.6 acres of open space. She also relayed a Fire Marshal comment: "Per fire code, once you have over 120 dwelling units, there must be 2 separate and approved fire apparatus access roads," which prompted commissioners to discuss requiring a second entrance or limiting the annexed units.
Commissioner Weatherby moved that the county reply to Holly Springs requesting that the annexation be conditioned on reducing the number of new units to 120 or providing the second entrance as required by fire response standards; Commissioner Carter seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. The board did not finalize a rezoning decision but forwarded the recommendation and asked planning staff to request a revised site plan addressing access and Fire Marshal comments.
