Board hears transportation constraint for students seeking choice CTE courses

Karen Gilbert said transportation for choice enrollment is typically not provided and that, unless a grant explicitly covers it, federal and state CTE funds do not allow those transportation costs.
"At this time, unless it's a grant specific ... transportation is currently not provided," Gilbert said, adding the district has strategically located programs across northern and southern parts of the county to reduce travel burdens. Board members and staff acknowledged transportation costs are a significant local budget constraint and that parents sometimes must provide travel for students attending off-site programs.
