Priority Waste representatives told the council the company has secured new investment and leadership to stabilize service after earlier operational problems. A company representative said an investor (TPG) injected $190 million and the new CEO, Aaron Johnson, prioritized new trucks and staffing; the presenter said roughly 91 trucks are being added to the fleet with 41 assigned to the Wayne location that serves Walled Lake.
Sam Caramagno Jr. (speaker 17), who oversees the Wayne location, told council that bringing newer trucks into the area should reduce breakdown‑related delays and that a full‑time, site‑based logistics manager for Walled Lake would start imminently. The company also said it has added roughly 15 call‑center staff (a third‑party arrangement tied directly to Priority Waste) and is exploring mass text/email notification for missed pickups, though that requires resident opt‑in and data collection.
Council members pressed on rollout timing, truck counts per route and repair logistics; Priority Waste said it expects trucks to arrive in waves (estimates through September) and offered to provide call volume data on request. No contractual changes were presented; the presentation was an operational update and council encouraged continued coordination on messaging and logistics to reduce missed collections.
