Brantley Day, Community Development Agency Director, summarized the agency’s 2023 annual report for the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners, saying the department manages transportation, permitting, stormwater, planning and related services across eight divisions. “We are a team of 121 professionals over 8 departments striving to provide the highest level of service delivery and customer service,” Day said during the 08/20 work session.
Day cited production figures and program highlights: hundreds of plan reviews and thousands of inspections (staff reported more than 41,000 inspections in 2022 and roughly 30,000 in 2023), about 110 land-disturbance permits the prior year, and more than 9,100 stormwater structures inspected. He credited SPLOST and state funding for recent resurfacing programs and said staff are building a portfolio dashboard to show constrained years for design and construction across more than 50 projects. Day said ARPA dollars — roughly $3 million cited for several stormwater projects — have helped move multiple stormwater efforts forward.
