At the meeting Missus Berg said she is "looking forward to receiving the technology audit" and stated she will refrain from voting on many technology purchases until the audit provides data on academic impact and student privacy. Her comment was made during the curriculum/technology item discussion prior to a roll-call approval.
Despite Berg's reservation, the board moved and approved the agenda items that included technology-related matters. Berg recorded a yes vote on the items before the board but signaled she would not support future technology purchases until committee follow-up provides the requested data.
The curriculum staff said committees will review professional development, consulting services and the district's 1:1 technology program in August and will examine data on student outcomes and privacy implications.
