The City of North Charleston adopted a final-reading annexation ordinance that adds an area of Charleston County (TMS Number 390, Parcel 89) to Council District 7, council staff said during the meeting. A city staff member told the council that "the annexation petition pending before tonight contains 100% of the freehold property owners and represents 100% of the assessed values," and that records of the auditor and assessor had been checked.
Council members voted on final reading after a staff presentation and a motion to approve. The measure passed by roll call with 10 members voting in favor and one member opposed.
City staff said that if adopted the services for the annexed area will begin after the vote. The ordinance references a map prepared by the GIS department dated 06/01/2026 and identifies the area as "area proposed for annexation by the city of North Charleston Section 55 B in Council District 7."
