Berks County recognizes Dairy Princess court for National Dairy/National Ice Cream Month

Commissioner Leinbach and county officials recognized the Berks County Dairy Princess and members of her court as part of National Dairy/National Ice Cream Month. Maya Bixler, the county Dairy Princess, introduced herself and addressed the board about modern dairy farming, explaining that "a dairy cow's journey begins at birth" and emphasizing the importance of colostrum, early nutrition and long‑term animal care in producing safe, nutrient‑dense milk.
Other youth on the dairy court described their involvement in FFA and farm work, noted the economic role of dairy in the county and reflected on farm practices such as balanced rations, clean housing and regular veterinary checks. Commissioners thanked the students and invited attendees to an ice cream social following the meeting.
