Commissioners authorize county sign permission for sections of 9/11 National Memorial Trail

Commissioner Leinbach described a proposed agreement to allow the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance to install way‑finding signs on county‑owned property along a segment of the national trail that runs through Berks County. Leinbach said the county is "not paying anything" for the signage and that the MOU would be subject to final review and approval by the Berks County Solicitor's Office.
Leinbach outlined the trail’s reach in the region and noted the trail connects to other memorial sites from New York to the Flight 93 Memorial and to Washington, D.C. He said the county portion runs by Stonecliff Park, the Union Canal Trail and up toward Blue Marsh. The resolution authorizes the chair to execute the agreement and allows the alliance to place signage for pedestrians, bicyclists and visitors to better navigate the trail.
