Altamont council confirms new slate of city officials and staff

The Altamont City Council on May 14 approved a slate of city appointments put forward by Mayor Richard Hayward.
By unanimous votes the council accepted LeaAnn Myers as City Administrator, Brian Orender as City Clerk, Savannah Mackie as City Treasurer, Nathan Barnett as City Superintendent, Michael Shields as Chief of Police, Christian Powell as Police Lieutenant, Timothy Ames and Troy Mackie as Police Officers, Cody Dickerson as Fire Chief, Robert Myers as City Attorney, and Brian Johnson as City Judge. Councilmember Kyle Wiford moved the appointment package through routine motions; Councilmember Colt Booth seconded several items and the motions carried.
The council also designated Labette Avenue as the city's official newspaper and approved Labette Bank as the official depository. Councilmember Tyler Julich recorded an abstention on the Labette Bank vote. The council approved the KMGA Board alternate appointment of Nathan Barnett with a term expiring August 31, 2027.
These actions were recorded as formal motions and carried during the meeting; the council adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
