Fire Chief Dickerson reported one meeting, two medical calls, one grass fire and one structure fire during the reporting period, and said the department trained on filing reports in the new NERIS reporting system. Chief Dickerson and Assistant Chief Hayward attended a county fire chiefs meeting where Commissioner Weidert updated departments about a proposed sales tax question for the November ballot; departments are awaiting notification on applied-for grants.
The police department reported handling animal-control calls, civil standbys and child exchanges, lake patrol, safety checks and citizen assists. The minutes list warnings (4 headlight, 9 speed, 1 stop sign, 3 taillight, 1 illegal tag display) and two speed citations; KBI reports included one possession-of-marijuana report and a counterfeit-money report. The department is conducting training with two new part-time officers, both of whom also serve in the volunteer fire department.
