Facade‑improvement funding eyed for Purple Line corridor businesses

"We are in the process of working on two new projects that are going to do revitalization to Winchester West, to Kennebec communities," said Mark D'Ocampo, manager for Neighborhood Revitalization for DHCA, who noted the program focuses on life‑safety, ADA, lighting and business revitalization. Council members praised the program as efficient and popular; one member noted a $600,000 state grant that supplements county funding for specific projects.
DHCA said demand exceeds current capacity and anticipates ramping up work as the Purple Line enters operation; staff recommended approval of the facade program item and related White Oak commercial improvements that expand geographic scope and target corridor revitalization.
