Police outline "0 tolerance" enforcement, extra staffing for spring break

Kirk said the department will use social media and public-information officers to set expectations and emphasized a dual goal of discouraging disorder while preserving access for families and businesses. "Our enforcement posture... is, again, 0 tolerance for shenanigans, violation of ordinances and statutes," he said, adding the intent is not a "militant approach" but to prevent lawlessness and keep visitors and residents safe and comfortable.
Commissioners asked about staggered spring breaks in neighboring counties, messaging coordination, and how the department will balance enforcement with business and tourism interests. The chief noted plans for mutual aid, traffic management and community-service aides and said outreach will include reminders to download the Volusia Beaches app for ramp and capacity updates.
