Council members discussed site visits and neighbor concerns: one property owner had submitted a letter opposing the vacation and councilmembers clarified which address (800 versus 802) had filed the opposition. Members examined whether vacating the alley would block access to the rear of adjoining yards and whether the applicant (802) would gain exclusive use. Several members said they drove past the site to inspect and concluded that vacating the narrow alley would not prevent the property owner from accessing their backyard.
After discussion, the clerk called the roll and the ordinance passed with ayes recorded from Danko, Geary, Reid, Shire and Mayor Tara Bidda.
Next steps: staff will complete recorded ordinance paperwork to effect the alley vacation.
