Commissioners discussed the tradeoffs, with at least one saying they did not want to increase taxes but recognizing that options were needed to fund fire and police.
A resident speaker argued that the community had asked the commission to keep both police and fire services and that the commission should give staff the ability to present budget options. The roll-call vote recorded a majority in favor with one commissioner opposed; the record shows the motion carried.
