Solid Waste authority adds weekly service days and hires new attendant

Director Tim told the board that two transfer stations will operate an additional day each week to increase public access. "The Klamath Transfer Station is now open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 10 to 4," Tim said, adding that the Gaskey Transfer Station is open Thursdays in addition to Saturdays during the same hours.

Tim said the added days increase demands on staff and announced the hiring of Darren Meisel as a refuse-site attendant to help cover the expanded schedule. Tim said Meisel's training will free Tabitha Weir, the authority's account clerk, to receive training in other duties. Board members asked staff to return with trend lines showing customer response and tonnage after the new days have been in effect so the board can evaluate whether the schedule changes are meeting community need.
