Selma to review monument-sign heights, stormwater rules and prepare code for data centers

Council asked staff to review Section 17-1109 on permanent monument sign-height maximums and Section 17-506 on drainage and stormwater to ensure standards are current and consistent with new development types in Selma. Chair said updating stormwater and drainage standards is wise given the town's recent development trends.
The council also discussed the need to prepare the code for possible data-center development, noting that current ordinances give wide latitude and that the town can narrowly define where data centers are appropriate. Chair said, "Data center is looking for space, and we need to be prepared for that conversation," and asked staff to include narrowly defined siting language in the proposed ordinance package.
