Council discussed growing occurrences of tents used long-term in backyards and asked staff to craft ordinance language addressing tents as temporary housing or carports, camping and large encampments. Chair said the town "certainly need[s] to address those situations" after noting tents observed in backyards for many months.
Members also raised concerns about storage of machinery and tools on residential properties and asked for rules that require proper storage—particularly in the historic district where aesthetic standards apply. The council additionally supported adding a prohibition on large balloon releases inside town limits while clarifying accidental individual balloon losses would not prompt enforcement.
