Selma council seeks clearer rules for food trucks, historic-district signs and right-of-way

Council members directed staff to craft clearer guidance on accessory uses in downtown and commercial districts so food trucks and special events do not overwhelm brick-and-mortar businesses. "We don't have these areas just littered with food trucks all the time," the Chair said, noting that requests by property owners should shape where food trucks are allowed.
The council also instructed staff to revise historic-district standards to address lighted signs and flashing lights, while maintaining the requirement for a Certificate of Appropriateness. In addition, the council requested clearer right-of-way language so residents understand what is and is not permitted in the area in front of their homes. Staff will include these items in the package to be reviewed by the planning board.
