Council members provided brief updates from committees and commissions. Alder Schafer said a comprehensive Landmarks Commission draft report has been submitted and is expected to come to the council next month for approval, and that the city secured grants for 540 LED street lights. Alder Opitz reported the Pedestrian, Bicycle & Transit Committee completed a draft active transportation plan and announced three public input opportunities: July 23 at Stonehurst Green (5–8 p.m.), August 5 (6–7 p.m.) at Northside School and August 10 (6–7 p.m.) at the Park.
Members encouraged residents to review the plan and attend the public-input sessions. The updates also included a note that the library's summer reading program and bookmobile continue through early August, and that golf-course and tourism entities are preparing budgets and master plans.
