Union City Borough Council on Sept. 16 approved submitting an application to Erie County for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds of up to $100,000 to cover part of stormwater repairs in Municipal Lot #1. Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told Council that Mansfield will fill a sinkhole, replace roughly 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin; the borough plans smoke-and-dye testing after those repairs are complete.
Councilor Steadman moved to authorize the CDBG application and Councilor Osborn seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The borough said it is awaiting quotes from JT Patching & Paving and Cross Paving for paving work around the repaired area and that nearby business owners and the UCVFD will be notified before smoke testing is scheduled.
