Council approves $1-an-hour raise for Police Chief after executive session

The Gregory City Council voted to grant Police Chief Ryan Cook a $1.00-per-hour pay increase after returning from an executive session on Feb. 3, 2025. The raise was proposed to offset the department’s insurance premium reimbursement cut to 50%, reducing the prior reimbursement to $450.
Councilmember Stacey Boes made the motion to approve the raise; Cory Graber, Alex Hamilton and Laura Petersen voted in favor, while Kristi Drey voted no. The council entered executive session at 6:46 p.m. and reconvened at 7:05 p.m. The motion carried 4–1. The action amends Chief Cook’s hourly wage and was recorded in the meeting minutes as the formal outcome.
