Tanjara, business operations, told board members that the proposed total millage rate for adoption is 5.379 and that local-effort millage would rise to 3.131 (an increase of 0.027).
She explained that the county's total assessed values increased by about 4.63%, which is the primary reason for the modest revenue uptick tied to assessed values rather than a net revenue gain from new taxes. "If our local capital improvement fund taxes increase, our state fund is funding decreases by that same amount and vice versa," she said, describing how local and state funding interact.
Board members heard the millage figures as part of the rationale for the expedited advertisement schedule; staff noted the final millage will be adopted at the required public hearing following advertisement.
