Board signs $15,355 annual HVAC controls and monitoring contract

The Harper Detroit Wind School District Board of Education approved July 22 an annual HVAC controls and monitoring contract with United Systems Associates for the 2026–27 school year at a cost not to exceed $15,355.
Staff described the contract as covering preventative maintenance, minor system changes, alarm monitoring, and on‑site or phone support, plus software and firmware updates. “Gary Beyer and his group have worked in our digital controls for several years now,” a staff member said, adding the company has been reasonably steady on price increases and provides quick service when issues arise.
Trustees noted that several district staff members have access to the controls interface for remote adjustments, which helps address temperature or fresh‑air concerns without an immediate service visit. The motion to approve carried on a roll‑call vote.
