Resident urges borough to clear storm-blocked creek after trees, debris accumulate

Heather Doerje, a resident who spoke during the citizens forum, told council the creek by her house is “very dirty” and clogged with fallen trees and debris after the recent storm, and said the blockage could cause people to lose their homes if not addressed.
“Please, I’m coming to absolutely do something about it,” Heather Doerje said, asking the borough to intervene after previous reports were not resolved. Council president said public works would visit the site “immediately” and directed staff to follow up with the resident before she left the meeting.
Another resident, Sharifi Sport, later supplied photos and video showing a large tree spanning the creek and described private driveways flooding and erosion of yards after heavy rain. Council and staff discussed whether the debris fell from cemetery property or private property and agreed the borough would assess responsibility and take necessary steps.
Public works reported heavy storm response across the borough and said it will prioritize an inspection of the resident-reported site to determine whether borough crews or property owners must act. The council asked staff to provide an ETA for the inspection and to report back to the resident and council.
