Brent Metzger addressed council about Summer Fest preparations: he asked council members to sign a temporary beer permit after the meeting, requested that village employees move picnic tables again this year, and suggested including a pickleball tournament in the festival advertisements. Mayor Bruce Metzger said signatures could be collected after the meeting, that he would consult village employees about moving tables, and asked Brent Metzger to include the tournament in promotional materials.
Mayor Metzger also credited Fire Chief Jason Ely for obtaining a fire-safety trailer from Bolivar for the festival and asked Police Chief Randy Haugh about providing an officer for the beer garden. The festival committee announced a new distinguished-citizen award; Nick Haswell was nominated and accepted. Organizers are also seeking sponsors to underwrite free pony and train rides.
