Council authorizes $1.04 million engineering contract for new airport ARFF facility; city share about $26,000

The council authorized an agreement with CNS Engineers to continue design work on a planned Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) facility. The airport director said CNS had been the city's consultant; after a bid process, the council approved a new authorization of services to continue that design work.
Councilor Farrell moved to "approve the ARFF Airport Rescue and Firefighting Facility General Airport Consulting Services contract with CNS engineers for lump sum of 1,040,188 and authorize the mayor to sign the authorization of services number 1," and the motion was seconded and carried. Councilor Kogent noted the city's direct portion of the contract is only about $26,000.05 while the overall contract value is approximately $1.04 million.
The airport director said the design is already in progress and the authorization continues prior work; the council approved the authorization and directed the mayor to execute the documents as presented.
