Resident raises FOIA and payroll questions about city clerk during public comment

During the public-comment period Sandra Simmons (825 Pleasant Street) thanked the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department for a rapid response to a December domestic disturbance, saying she timed the deputy response and that a nonresident subject was arrested within 15 minutes.
Simmons then addressed the council about public records. She said she had picked up a FOIA request at a previous meeting and is submitting additional FOIA requests seeking documentation tied to resolution 23‑15 and to the employment and payroll records of the city clerk, Lisa Worszek. Simmons asked the city attorney to examine whether the clerk’s records show overlapping employment dates — specifically whether the clerk’s Mount Clemens employment dates and the clerk’s start date in Algonac overlap — and asked the council to place the matter on a future agenda if a conflict of interest appears. “I will be handing over more FOIA requests in the next couple days,” she said.
Next steps: Simmons said she will submit records requests to clarify start dates and resolution records; council staff indicated the city attorney will review the concern and respond at a later meeting.
