The grant has a maximum award of $750,000 and is intended to fund public facilities that address basic human needs, improve housing conditions for low- and moderate-income residents, or eliminate hazardous public-facility conditions.
Staff described a candidate project: upsizing a major trunk sewer line on the north side of town that runs beneath Highway 224 and a railroad; that section is deteriorated and nearing capacity and will require boring under the highway and track. The procurement authorization allows the city to identify a grant administrator and an engineer needed to prepare a compliant application. Council moved, seconded and approved the motion to start the RFP/RFQ processes by voice vote.
