Toms River board spotlights Teachers and Educational Services Professionals of the Year

The Toms River Regional Schools Board of Education began its regular meeting by honoring teachers, paraprofessionals and students from across the district.
Superintendent (speaking as superintendent) opened the ceremony and invited representatives from each building to announce their honorees. "Being named a teacher of the year or educational service professional of the year is more than a recognition. It's a reflection of the relationships you build," the superintendent said during remarks recognizing district staff.
Student speakers from the high schools highlighted school activities and accomplishments. Mikaela Milenek from Toms River High School East congratulated Lori Rose and Colleen O'Donnell, noting, "They truly care about what they do and about the students they work with," and called out athletic and arts achievements including a wrestling sectional title and a relay record time of 1:49.7. Alicia Lobello (High School North) and Makayla Manzi (High School South) offered similar summaries of their schools' recent successes and senior honors.
Principals then presented each building's Teacher of the Year and Educational Services Professional of the Year; the awards portion concluded with a group photo of all honorees. The board immediately moved on to business agenda items after the recognition segment.
