District reports HVAC fixes, work-order metrics and summer timeline for South-school elevator repair

Facilities staff told the Buildings & Grounds committee that December work-order activity included 485 requests with 532 completed and that most of these related to HVAC as winter weather increased demand. Staff said many HVAC issues are timing/mechanical and that in-house teams are performing fixes while working with software vendors to resolve communication problems between the building graphics page and thermostats.
On elevator repairs, staff said the part for the South elementary elevator is expected to arrive and the repair is most likely to be completed by early summer; in the meantime, the district is making accommodations to ensure students who need first-floor access can do so. "I'm not gonna lie to you. It's most likely going to be fixed by the end of the year, early summer," a facilities official said about that elevator project. Board members pressed for schedules and updates on design corrections to long-standing HVAC problems; staff said items are tracked and contractors and legal counsel are being kept apprised for major referendum projects.
