Student-safety data shows declines in several incident categories, district says

Mr. Thomas presented the district's Student Safety Data System (SSDS) report for January 1–June 30, 2025 and told the board the district saw a 9% decrease in reportable offenses, a 12% reduction in physically aggressive behavior and a 13.5% decrease in confirmed HIB compared with the previous report.
Thomas provided category totals for the period — 115 acts of violence, 23 damage to property, 13 weapons incidents, 57 substance-abuse incidents and 45 confirmed HIBs for a total of 253 reportable incidents — and said the district continues programs and partnerships (Health and Wellness Coalition, YMCA, Communities That Care, Toms River Police Department) to address safety and mental-health needs.
