Commission favors revitalizing mile markers at Yucaipa Community Park with QR codes and durable signs

City staff presented a condition assessment of the walking-loop mile markers at Yucaipa Community Park and proposed replacing deteriorated vinyl decals with longer-lasting options such as engraved metal plaques, thermoplastic pavement markings or posts. "Many of the decals have faded or peeled, and some are just really missing the plaques entirely," staff said, noting at least one marker could not be located and the start/finish marker is partially hidden by landscaping.
Commissioners broadly supported revitalizing the loop and suggested adding QR codes that link to maps, trail information and county resources (211), as well as emergency-location identifiers to assist responders. Staff said they will verify the total length of the loop, evaluate installation methods and return with cost estimates and a recommendation.
