The Humboldt Planning and Zoning Board on May 8 recommended that the City Board approve a conditional-use permit allowing campsites at 111 W 3rd Ave, a property zoned General Business, and adopted a one-time $50 per service fee for camp sites.
During the public hearing the board discussed operational details including length of stay, garbage service and privacy fencing. Dennis Erickson was recorded as voicing disapproval of placing campsites in the middle of a residential district; the minutes do not include a direct response from the applicant. The fee motion was made by Bob Zirpel and seconded by Kristi Gambs and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. The conditional-use permit was recommended to the City Board following a motion by Zirpel, seconded by Chairman Dave Froke; the roll call recorded Zirpel, Froke and Gambs voting yes and Mike Noonan voting no, and the motion carried.
The board’s action on the permit is a recommendation to the City Board; the minutes do not record a final municipal decision. The record notes the property address (111 W 3rd Ave) and that the parcel is zoned General Business, and lists campsite operational items the board considered.
