County: Southwest and Pleasant View Fire filling gaps while interim chief is considered

Dolores County officials told the special meeting that external partners are providing temporary coverage after local providers resigned. The director said Southwest is covering Dove Creek calls while Cortez dispatch handles nights when local dispatch is offline, and a Pleasant View Fire representative confirmed they are assisting with critical, non-transport responses.
The director said those arrangements increase delivery times and are not a long-term solution: "Clearly, that has extended delivery times. That's a problem as well as some of the value. You need to have that organic support here." County leaders said the interim board will consider a candidate for interim chief (referred to in discussion as Grant) and then work with the medical director to restore operating authority and ramp services back up incrementally.
