IT director outlines server consolidation, email‑filtering and dispatch upgrades

Corey Meyer, director of IT/GIS, presented a multi‑part update on county information‑technology needs: looming hardware and memory shortages from major manufacturers; an evaluation to consolidate three server sites to reduce capital replacements; a migration from VMware to Hyper‑V to lower licensing costs; and a plan to move certain services to cloud storage where appropriate.

Meyer also described an email‑filtering project to route more advertising and junk mail to spam folders, a timeline to complete dispatch console installations with AT&T’s Tiger Team (targeting mid‑August installs and September testing), and the near‑completion of an EM building conference room system. He said some purchases are being postponed for budget reasons but that a scheduled Hyper‑V migration and server consolidation are planned to complete by March next year.
