The Village of Mattawan council moved to excuse two members from the July 21 special meeting. Councilmember Begeman moved, and Councilmember Daniel seconded, to excuse member Gurley for a personal commitment and to excuse member Streeter due to a conflict of interest because Streeter is a candidate for the vacant Village Manager position.
The motion passed with all members present voting in favor. The minutes record Begeman, Daniel, McLean, Monroe and Stuut as the voting members; the motion was carried as recorded in the attendance section of the meeting minutes.
