Facilities update: elevator inspections, punch lists and a possible delay to July 10 opening
Summary
Facilities staff reported progress at Lake Wylie High and Liberty Hill Elementary but said multiple inspections remain and the planned July 10 registration/opening date is at risk. Staff moved teacher crates to Lake Wylie and asked the board to approve change orders to expedite completion.

Dr. Hopkins updated the board on logistics for moving teachers and completing inspections at the district’s new schools.
He said teacher crates have been delivered to the Lake Wylie High School cafeteria and athletics and band equipment moves are scheduled. An elevator serving wings G and H passed inspection, but other elevator and fire-alarm inspections remain outstanding. "We have to post all of this on our web page...Once all deficiencies from that are removed, our architect and mechanical engineer will request the CO from OSF," he said. Dr. Hopkins warned that the July 10 target date for registration/opening is "in jeopardy" unless inspections and punch-list items are cleared quickly.
He described ongoing life-safety, mechanical and plumbing inspections, and said the team is doing a final push to address deficiencies and coordinate with third-party inspectors and the fire marshal. Staff will return with status updates and requested authority to approve change orders needed to address code-compliance items and site corrections.
