The Village of Mattawan Special Council entered closed sessions during its July 14, 2026 meeting to conduct annual personnel evaluations for department heads. At 7:02 PM, the council voted unanimously to enter closed session for a "periodic personnel evaluation of an employee, as requested in writing by said employee," with the Superintendent's review scheduled first; the council returned to open session at 8:03 PM and Superintendent Anthony exited the meeting.
After a brief recess the council reconvened and, at 8:07 PM, voted unanimously to enter a second closed session to review Chief Mansfield.
