Planner Ryan King said the parcel sits inside the Flight Path Overlay District and noted nearby commercial anchors including a Walmart, Lowe's and a proposed Wawa. "This rezoning is gonna be where some development occurs," King said, adding the Planning Board recommended approval on June 8. He also explained staff followed required notifications to adjoining property owners and posted legal notices.
After the presentation Mayor (speaker 2) opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers. A councilor moved to approve the rezoning and the council adopted the amendment by voice vote.
