Residents raise tree-hazard and wetland maintenance concerns at Heritage Pines CDD meeting

Tom Martin and Don Brothers spoke during the public-comment period at the Heritage Pines Community Development District meeting on Feb. 18, 2025, pressing the board to address trees and debris near private yards.
Martin said a dead tree near the edge of his property at 18906 Rolling Hills Loop has been present “for two or three years” and called the site an eyesore; Chair Kathleen Lonergan said part of the natural wetland is being cleaned and that Environmental Solutions is coordinating perimeter cleanup but will not remove material larger than 5 inches in diameter. Lonergan said the District Engineer must determine whether crews may cut back trees and bushes inside the wetland and directed staff to investigate and follow up with Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz.
Don Brothers said a tree behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive is an invasive species that was significantly damaged in recent hurricanes and that the previous owner’s debris pile sits on CDD land; Supervisor Stephen Putman inspected and photographed the pile. The board noted A‑Z Tree Service estimates on the agenda and discussed stump grinding and removal options.
The chair and District Manager Chuck Adams said the District Engineer will review specific reported locations and that staff will pursue the appropriate contractor work as directed by the engineer. No formal action to remove trees beyond the approved stump-grind estimate for 11453 Heritage Point Drive was recorded during the meeting.
