Bristol updates North Street leak, School Street patching and Bristol West waterline financing; Munson mobilizes

Town Administrator Gregory Faust briefed the Selectboard on several water infrastructure items on May 11. Contractors excavating the North Street site near Walgreens identified leakage on the customer side serving Walgreens; Faust said Pomerleau is handling the customer-side work and that crews are expected to resume Wednesday morning. He further said the routing relative to the nearby storm drain was not clear from the cut as left.
Faust recommended bundling outstanding work on School Street (a previously authorized patch) with the current North Street dig to reduce mobilization costs, noting that the Board had already voted to address School Street. Peeker Heffernan identified the School Street patch area as between Spring Street and Pine Street; Faust said he would verify whether part of that work could fall to Munson Earth-Moving under an upcoming water project scope.
On financing, Faust reported that additional documents will be transmitted to the Vermont Bond Bank and that Bristol is on the Bond Bank's agenda for May 28 to finalize bond financing for the Bristol West waterline replacement. He added that Munson mobilization for Bristol West began this week (tree cutting and site prep) and that materials backorders may affect the early pace of work. Faust outlined a public communications plan for the project: weekly construction meetings on Thursdays, a town-wide schedule published on Front Porch Forum and the town website, and targeted street-level outreach to residents on active or upcoming streets. He said Operator Jill Marsano (VTUMS) and Public Works staff member Chris (Bapp) will be on the ground and that Faust will compile and distribute weekly schedules.
