The Colchester School District Board on Feb. 17 authorized the district to proceed with a long‑overdue replacement of the Colchester High School main gym floor and spectator bleachers. Chief Financial and Operations Officer George Trieb told the board the gym floor dates to the building's 1974 construction and is at the end of its functional life; the bleachers are approximately 26 years old and show significant mechanical wear.
Director Laurie Kigonya moved to accept the combined bid from Danaher Flooring and Robert Lord and authorized the CFO to sign a contract for the project; the motion passed unanimously. Trieb said construction is expected to take about 6–8 weeks and would be scheduled while school is in session; the board discussed bids, funding strategy and timeline considerations before voting.
