Council selects SWMPC as master-plan consultant, approves up to $20,000

The Village Council approved hiring the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission (SWMPC) as the consultant to update the village Master Plan, voting 5–0 to accept a $16,591 contract not to exceed $20,000. Planning Commission chair Mike Botelho made the motion and Brian Cassidy seconded; the council voted by roll call.
Julie Bonello, who presented the Master Plan workplan to the council, outlined six phases—project organization, community inventory and analysis, community engagement, goals and future land use, implementation strategies, and draft-plan review—and said the consultant projects the work will be completed in "15 months." The Planning Commission will lead public engagement and the consultant will assist with surveys and a draft for council review; the first community survey is scheduled to go to all village residents in January.
