Council OKs one-year stewardship contract for village butterfly garden, capped at $5,000

Beth Denton, Pizzo Territory Manager, told the council the contractor completed the last phase of stewardship at the village pollinator garden, "finished putting down the erosion blanket," and provided photos documenting the work. Denton described the proposed 2025 stewardship contract, which would run April through November and include invasive and nonnative plant control by hand removal or treatment, seed collection and dispersal, mowing and necessary supplies and travel time.
Councilmember Mike Botelho moved to approve a one-year contract for service not to exceed $5,000, with the council to revisit continuing the stewardship in 2026. The motion was seconded by Nancy Thill and passed on a roll-call vote, 5–0. The agreement was presented as an operational maintenance contract rather than a capital project; funding will come from the village operating budget as approved by the council.
