Michiana council OKs security cameras for village and park, cites vandalism

The Village of Michiana Council voted unanimously Sept. 6 to authorize Omni Systems to install security cameras around the village and park not to exceed $8,000. Tim McCarthy made the motion and Brian Cassidy seconded; the motion passed on a roll call vote of 5–0.
McCarthy said of the authorization, "it is sad that we have to do this but we have a great investment in the park and hall and have had some vandalism already," framing cameras as a protection for village property. The council asked staff to coordinate installation and specified the funding cap.
