After a closed-session review of an attorney-client letter, the Village of Michiana Council voted to increase the total salary budget for the Department of Works and the Village Office by 9 percent on Sept. 6. Tim McCarthy moved to implement the raise and Mike Botelho seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Council said the increase will take effect on the following payroll after each affected employee has met with a council member. The change applies to the two departmental salary pools noted at the meeting; the council did not specify individual employee increases or the total dollar value of the adjustment during the public session.
