Beach stairs removed, drywells installed and Wi‑Fi extended to courts and pavilion

Council reported that beach stairs at several stops will be removed at month-end, kayaks must be removed by Oct. 15, two new drywells were installed (bringing the year's total to four), and cable wiring was extended to improve Wi‑Fi to the courts and pavilion.
Brian Cassidy told the council Oct. 11 that beach stairs at Stops 38, 39 and 42 will be removed at the end of the month; Stops 37 and 41.5 will remain open. He said all kayaks and paddle boards must be removed by Oct. 15 and that garbage cans will be removed from the beach stops at month end.
Street Superintendent Rick Reitz reported two additional drywells were installed on Long Lake Shore Drive (near Stops 38 and 39), making four drywells installed this year as budgeted. He also said crews cleared branches on Hillside and Mohawk, and that cable wiring was installed from the street garage to the police side to provide improved Wi‑Fi access to the basketball courts and pavilion for vendors and residents. Leaf pick-up was scheduled to begin at the end of the month.
