Site visit finds invasive plants and dead trees at The Preserve; owner pledges removal
Summary
During a Jan. 18 site visit related to a proposed land swap, property owner Ray Pola showed council where he would remove invasive plants and trees along his lakefront and council members observed tree damage inside The Preserve that will require removal and possible cleanup work.
Council members and attendees traveled to 202 Shannondale Road following a presentation about a proposed land swap. At the site, owner Ray Pola pointed out areas where he plans to remove invasive plants and trees on the south side of his property along the lakefront. Pola also explained the lot configuration he envisions if the swap proceeds, describing 170 feet of frontage that could be split into two 85-foot lots with 7½-foot side setbacks.
While on the site the group viewed damage to trees in The Preserve and noted several dead trees that need removal. Participants recorded these observations for follow-up; council members linked the potential town access to the lake with the opportunity to seek grants to cleanup and improve The Preserve and to the possible formation of a nonprofit to help manage improvements. No formal commitments or funding decisions were made at the special meeting.
