Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg updated the council on remaining Town Hall renovation work on Nov. 14, saying drywall of ceilings and walls will be the largest expense followed by flooring, plumbing and electrical. She submitted two drywall estimates: Drywall Dan, Inc. $18,000 and Nakamura Drywall Inc. $17,500. Council discussed the higher costs compared with estimates from the prior year.
Council also approved changes to the town’s procurement thresholds to reflect increased costs: purchases $1,000–$20,000 will require two quotes; purchases $20,000–$50,000 will require three written quotes; and purchases over $50,000 will require formal competitive bidding. The motion to accept the recommended threshold changes was made by Council Member Kathleen Hoock, seconded by Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas, and passed 4-0 (Tyson absent). The Town Attorney will prepare a resolution to ratify the procurement changes.
