The Cloud Lake Town Council passed Ordinance No. 162 on first reading during its Nov. 14 meeting to amend Chapter 12 of the town’s Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. Town Attorney William P. Doney read the ordinance by title and said the amendment is required to conform with FEMA changes that take effect Dec. 5, 2024. The motion to pass on first reading was made by Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas and seconded by Council Member Kathleen Hoock; the vote was 4-0 with Council Member John Tyson absent.
Council’s action advances the ordinance to the next procedural step (subsequent reading(s) and final adoption procedures as required under town code). The attorney’s statement that the changes are FEMA-required was recorded in the minutes as the rationale for the amendment.
